He went right to his desk, set down, and started playing. We were so proud of him. He had a wonderful 1st day and even got a sticker for good behavior! We really like his teacher. She has 24 years of experience (which will come in handy dealing with Luke) and seems to be really sweet. Here's the school boy before we left the house. <div><div><p align="center"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/TG50Go1UZpI/AAAAAAAAAw8/5wWVjlcNHjA/s1600/Kindergarten.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5507467051709785746" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/TG50Go1UZpI/AAAAAAAAAw8/5wWVjlcNHjA/s320/Kindergarten.JPG" /></a></p><p align="center"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/TG50Y40O_fI/AAAAAAAAAxE/1uhB-vykcsU/s1600/Big+Boy.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5507467365237849586" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/TG50Y40O_fI/AAAAAAAAAxE/1uhB-vykcsU/s320/Big+Boy.JPG" /></a></p><p align="center">Here's his new Lego Batman backpack. I can't believe he will be starting Kindergarten in a couple of months. Time really seems to fly by. Oddly, I'm not really sad about it at all. I miss my little baby, but I love having this smart little boy who can carry on a full conversation with me. If I've learned anything over the past several months, it is that life is to be enjoyed each and every day! <p align="center"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/TAZvaVNMXuI/AAAAAAAAAwM/va_pbhs-HJ0/s1600/Graduation+1.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 216px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5478188494902550242" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/TAZvaVNMXuI/AAAAAAAAAwM/va_pbhs-HJ0/s320/Graduation+1.JPG" /></a></p><p align="center"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/TAZvhJ3pzyI/AAAAAAAAAwU/pUJow6WXNuk/s1600/Graduation+2.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 253px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5478188612118499106" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/TAZvhJ3pzyI/AAAAAAAAAwU/pUJow6WXNuk/s320/Graduation+2.JPG" /></a></p><p align="center"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/TAZvl6BiVqI/AAAAAAAAAwc/hefzcjTecZA/s1600/Graduation+3.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 273px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5478188693764331170" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/TAZvl6BiVqI/AAAAAAAAAwc/hefzcjTecZA/s320/Graduation+3.JPG" /></a></p><p align="center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/TAZvrGg3saI/AAAAAAAAAwk/pGTYc_8OMqo/s1600/Graduation+4.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 204px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5478188783016325538" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/TAZvrGg3saI/AAAAAAAAAwk/pGTYc_8OMqo/s320/Graduation+4.JPG" /></a></p>JFhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08210364861063439570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6413231932354468208.post-43075178477370718112010-03-02T22:52:00.006-05:002010-03-02T22:58:13.103-05:00Birthday BoyLuke turned 5 on Sunday. Here are a couple of cute pictures we've taken of Luke over the past few weeks.<br /><p align="center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SyxiCiLvR2I/AAAAAAAAAtA/HmXBnXonWco/s1600-h/Tall+Tower.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416812247495165794" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SyxiCiLvR2I/AAAAAAAAAtA/HmXBnXonWco/s320/Tall+Tower.JPG" /></a></p><p align="center"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SyxiJ8BF66I/AAAAAAAAAtI/vDM-F3T6vLk/s1600-h/Sleeping.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416812374688918434" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SyxiJ8BF66I/AAAAAAAAAtI/vDM-F3T6vLk/s320/Sleeping.JPG" /></a></p>JFhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08210364861063439570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6413231932354468208.post-80431957233655357192009-09-18T02:05:00.007-04:002009-09-18T02:13:14.622-04:00A boy and a bunnyOur associate pastor, Ben, found 4 baby rabbits in his front yard the other day. He and Jeremy put them in the backyard of the empty house next door to try to keep the dogs and cats away from them. Jeremy took Luke and I down to see them later in the day and discovered that a dog had gotten at least one of them, and we couldn't find the other 3. To make a long story short, we found 1 of them and brought it home. I called a wildlife rehabilitation specialist who told me this bunny was old enough to be on its own, so we waited until dark and released it outside of the city a little bit. It was so cute! Luke, of course, was in love with it. He named it Cutie. Here are a few pictures of Luke and Cutie before Cutie's return to the great outdoors. <p align="center"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SrMj6ZcQhXI/AAAAAAAAAro/KaV6xNCHZxY/s1600-h/Cutie.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382685465806669170" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SrMj6ZcQhXI/AAAAAAAAAro/KaV6xNCHZxY/s320/Cutie.JPG" /></a></p><p align="center"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SrMkDtxXaKI/AAAAAAAAAr4/mA6XlsXSxMM/s1600-h/Luke+and+Cutie.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382685625882732706" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SrMkDtxXaKI/AAAAAAAAAr4/mA6XlsXSxMM/s320/Luke+and+Cutie.JPG" /></a></p><p align="center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SrMkJ9WfCTI/AAAAAAAAAsA/nHqkPPpy4aw/s1600-h/IMG_5062.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382685733144168754" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SrMkJ9WfCTI/AAAAAAAAAsA/nHqkPPpy4aw/s320/IMG_5062.JPG" /></a></p>JFhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08210364861063439570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6413231932354468208.post-28966793840785270572009-08-24T01:49:00.002-04:002009-08-24T01:55:35.335-04:00My child is wild!So Luke has been a little more feisty than usual the last few weeks. It seems to have culminated today. He started the day by hitting, scratching, and then attempting to throw a chair at his Sunday School teacher because he was told he had to stay in his class. Next, he kicked a little girl at church. Finally, he hit Jeremy when he told him they had to leave his <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">cousins</span>' house to come home. (That one was a really, really big mistake!) I asked him before bed how much more we were going to have to punish him before he started acting right. His answer, and I quote, "A lot!" I'm going to get called to the <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-error">principal's</span> office the first day of kindergarten! We have taken all of his monster trucks, his 3 favorite animals that he sleeps with, and have spanked him repeatedly. I really don't know what else to do at this point. I think we are taking his TV next, but that punishes us. I'm about ready to take all of his toys away and make him earn them back, but again, that punishes us. I may be bald by next week if this keeps up!<br /><br />Sorry I don't have any pictures yet. Hopefully the budget will allow for a new camera sometime soon.JFhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08210364861063439570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6413231932354468208.post-86099836815737722102009-07-06T13:33:00.003-04:002009-07-06T13:38:03.448-04:00Silver Dollar City and other thingsSorry it's been a while. I've been kind of busy the past several weeks. Anyway, we went to Branson for a couple of days last week and had a great time. I would love to post some pictures; however, when they say that the WaterWorks Waterboggan ride at Silver Dollar City will get you wet, they are not kidding. That ride cost us about $250. The camera is dead. My cellphone recovered, but unfortunately the camera did not. Other than that, we had a great time. I also had a funny conversation with Luke yesterday. I picked him up from his friend's house and when we pulled into the driveway this is what he said:<br /><br />L: Mommy, when are we going to have a baby?<br /><br />M: Well, I don't know if we are going to have another baby but maybe someday? You are all the baby I need anyway.<br /><br />L: Mommy, if we have another baby I'll take care of it.<br /><br />M: (Melting into a puddle)...well, maybe we can have a baby in a little while.JFhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08210364861063439570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6413231932354468208.post-15891664098379613932009-06-18T23:09:00.002-04:002009-06-18T23:18:15.417-04:00Test ResultsFor those of you on <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">Facebook</span>, this will be a repeat. Anyway, I just wanted to put out a quick update. I don't know much about it yet, but what I have learned so far is: <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_5" class="blsp-spelling-error">Crohn's</span> does not lead to colon cancer and <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_6" class="blsp-spelling-error">Crohn's</span> does not take any time off your life expectancy. She stayed with us for a few days while her apartment was being finished, and she gave me this as a thank you/Mother's Day gift. She got the pictures off my computer when I wasn't looking and had this made for me. I was so touched that she took the time and effort to make it. The quote at the top is something Luke says to me all the time. He means you're the best mommy in the whole world, but that's not quite how he says it! Just in case you can't read it, it says, "You're the best mommy I've ever had."<br /><p align="center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/ShTr5eXARCI/AAAAAAAAArY/MX9JkY8QpOk/s1600-h/Ashley+Picture.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5338150830975501346" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/ShTr5eXARCI/AAAAAAAAArY/MX9JkY8QpOk/s320/Ashley+Picture.JPG" /></a></p>JFhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08210364861063439570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6413231932354468208.post-62848005392180016572009-04-22T17:46:00.004-04:002009-04-22T17:50:01.678-04:00Could you sleep like this...two nights in a row? <div><br /></div><p align="center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/Se-QTimY83I/AAAAAAAAArA/7szn7I_E3JI/s1600-h/DSCN4348.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327635549582324594" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/Se-QTimY83I/AAAAAAAAArA/7szn7I_E3JI/s320/DSCN4348.JPG" border="0" /></a></p><p align="center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/Se-QXZbNmBI/AAAAAAAAArI/0I1riiWW6Ok/s1600-h/DSCN4349.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327635615839000594" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/Se-QXZbNmBI/AAAAAAAAArI/0I1riiWW6Ok/s320/DSCN4349.JPG" border="0" /></a></p>JFhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08210364861063439570noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6413231932354468208.post-74301455663007984252009-04-21T03:07:00.003-04:002009-04-21T03:08:34.078-04:00Could you sleep like this?<div align="center"> <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/Se1wyDc06lI/AAAAAAAAAqw/juK_m4LwmAw/s1600-h/DSCN4346.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327037939471149650" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/Se1wyDc06lI/AAAAAAAAAqw/juK_m4LwmAw/s320/DSCN4346.JPG" border="0" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><p align="center"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/Se1w1UYkE3I/AAAAAAAAAq4/dS12HgljGz4/s1600-h/DSCN4347.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327037995556279154" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/Se1w1UYkE3I/AAAAAAAAAq4/dS12HgljGz4/s320/DSCN4347.JPG" border="0" /></a></p>JFhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08210364861063439570noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6413231932354468208.post-36234362058232015702009-04-13T14:29:00.004-04:002009-04-13T14:31:40.426-04:00Easter<p align="left">Luke wanted, of all things, a tie for his birthday. So, there is a show that comes on after the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Duggars</span>' called Toddlers & Tiaras. I watched it the other day out of curiosity. My faith in mankind has now been diminished exponentially. How anyone, especially the mother of a small child whose purpose on earth is to protect, nurture, and develop that child could think that forcing (and I mean forcing) her child to participate in one of these awful pageants is beyond me. The episode I watched had children as young as 2 months wearing full make-up. What is wrong with these people! I watched a woman spray tan her 4-year-old child who was crying the whole time because she did not want it. The same child than had full make-up applied including fake eyelashes, fake hair, the above mentioned fake tan, fake teeth, and a $3000 dress. The moms the show interviewed actually tried to claim that part of the reason they did pageants is for their children to win money for college. If the top prize in a pageant is $2500, which is apparently about the average, and you spend $5000 on clothing and such, I'm pretty sure you are not going to come out ahead. I am in utter disbelief at what I saw. This should be considered child abuse, and these people should be arrested. There is no telling what kind of damage they are doing emotionally to these children teaching them that how they look is the most important thing in their lives. These pageants even have swimsuit <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">competitions</span>, for 2 year olds! That is just sick! Anyway, it made me very angry watching. These poor children are crying saying they are hungry, tired, they don't want to do it, and some of them were even sick. If you haven't seen the show, watch it. Trust me, it will make you feel like a better mom. By the way, I am not talking about the little pageants they do at the local fair or <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">Walmart</span> where you can win diapers or a little cash. I have no problem with people doing that at all. What I have a problem with is trying to turn babies into <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">miniature</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">prostitute</span> look-<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">a-likes</span>. Jitterbugs is kind've an exercise class for kids with singing, dancing, and general silliness. For those of you who know Luke, you will be shocked to find out that he has terrible stage fright. He would not even put on any of the costumes. The picture below is the closest we ever got to wearing a costume or being on stage. The only reason he even did that much is because of the 2nd picture, Chuck-E-Cheese bribery. They did 4 songs, and the first 3 songs he spent sitting on the steps to the left of the stage with Daddy. Finally, before the 4th song, I went back with him to the dressing room and got him to put a hat on. I told him he had to stand up the whole time and then we would go to Chuck-E-Cheese. This is the child who dives on the floor and yells, "I'm ok!" just so people will look at him. 2 sets of grandparents drove about an hour and a half to watch this... <div><br /></div><p align="center"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SZu1_Z2HDRI/AAAAAAAAApQ/23JwJ4lVR88/s1600-h/Jitterbugs.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304033087033117970" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SZu1_Z2HDRI/AAAAAAAAApQ/23JwJ4lVR88/s320/Jitterbugs.JPG" border="0" /></a></p><p align="center"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SZu2DPY8ZTI/AAAAAAAAApY/_Xrl524Seh8/s1600-h/Chuck-E-Cheese.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304033152945906994" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SZu2DPY8ZTI/AAAAAAAAApY/_Xrl524Seh8/s320/Chuck-E-Cheese.JPG" border="0" /></a></p>JFhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08210364861063439570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6413231932354468208.post-91311932230364751242009-02-01T00:46:00.008-05:002009-02-01T00:53:03.587-05:00Ice StormI finally have enough electricity and time to post some of the pictures I took during the ice storm. It was a little early this year, but it was the best time for everyone to get together. This is Christmas 1 of 5. We are going to need a larger house just to hold all of Luke's toys. I really seriously do not know where we are going to put everything. I think I am going to impose a 2 present per person limit next year - no single person can buy Luke more than 2 presents!<br /><br />This is the mound of presents before opening. About 6 of these were for people other than Luke; the rest were his!<br /><div align="center"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SUXyVk5VSxI/AAAAAAAAAmE/GSdEQbHZvAs/s1600-h/Present+Mound.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5279892590657096466" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/SUXyVk5VSxI/AAAAAAAAAmE/GSdEQbHZvAs/s320/Present+Mound.JPG" border="0" /></a></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"></div><div align="left">Luke made gifts for my parents this year. Before leaving the house, Luke really wanted to put on his pirate costume from last Halloween. I went ahead and let him wear it to the mall. When he hopped up in the chair to get his hair cut, the lady asked me what I wanted her to do. He quickly replied, "I want a mohawk." He apparently has a little friend at school who wears his hair in a mohawk from time to time, so now Luke thinks that is really cool. Anyway, I did not allow him to get his hair cut into a mohawk, but the lady did style it that way for him after she cut it. Note the super cheesy smile. I hope we can get at least 1 decent picture when he has his pictures made next week. This is the smile I get everytime I ask him to smile so I can take his picture. <div><div><span style="font-size:+0;"></span></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><p align="center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/ST7Y4rtFHkI/AAAAAAAAAls/4KgCzEkKRu4/s1600-h/Mohawk+Pirate.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5277894281640877634" style="WIDTH: 159px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/ST7Y4rtFHkI/AAAAAAAAAls/4KgCzEkKRu4/s320/Mohawk+Pirate.JPG" border="0" /></a></p><p align="center"><span style="font-size:+0;"></span><div align="center"></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"></div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/ST7Y81kLcrI/AAAAAAAAAl0/7V90y8S4K4I/s1600-h/Mohawk.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5277894353007375026" style="WIDTH: 297px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lg3KzBFLzPM/ST7Y81kLcrI/AAAAAAAAAl0/7V90y8S4K4I/s320/Mohawk.JPG" border="0" /></a> <p></p><p align="left">On a random note, this is a turkey Luke made for Thanksgiving.
